E.B. Green's Martinview Cottage
A Historic Home in Buffalo NY
History of the Little "Swiss" House at 113 Summit Avenue

Toward the end of the 19th Century, Dr. Benjamin Grove, a prominent Buffalo physician who had earlier commissioned E.B. Green to build a large home for his family on Jewett Parkway, again called upon Green.  This time he asked Green to build a small home on a corner of his property, whose back yard would connect to the back of the large house's yard.  Green designed a two-story Swiss-influenced cottage.  Over time, a legend would grow that the little home had been built as a part of the Pan-American Exposition and moved to its spot on Summit Avenue.  Later research revealed the true history of the home, as presented here.
